Perhaps you’ve heard of me. I went to federal prison for what stands to be one of the most controversial, debated, and widely publicized political gun runner stories in history.
When I first got to prison and stared at my new surroundings the only thing I wanted to do was get through the pain of my sentence and try to forget. Forget the reasons that landed me there in the first place.
Forget the “untouchables” of the Bush Administration and The Pentagon.
Forget the “influenced” governmental officials and prosecutors that were swayed by political pressure, despite the legal insufficiencies of their case.
Forget the” vultures” of the media who would rather deliver an inaccurate and fictionalized version of my story than the truth.
During my quest to forget and move on with my life, I was inundated with inquiries from the entertainment industry wanting to tell my story. However, my silence, and my desire to forget it all triggered faulty, careless and defective versions of my story – “fish tales,” which became a best-selling book and coming this summer, a major Hollywood movie. The book and movie were based on my initial writings, used without my authority and have since been blown outta proportion.
These unauthorized versions of my life story have driven me to respond. I am now here to set the record straight and move forward with the only form of the story that I know, the only version of the story that matters and the only story which has yet to told – the truth.
Now I’m the one holding the pen. I move forward as an author who has been forced to relive a time I had hoped to forget, but who knows that the only way to know this truth is to hear my story.
